DAY 3: DAYTONA BEACH...another redneck riviera?
The Salty Dog crew recommended releasing a state-by-state float plan after a well meaning NYC decorator pressed for more information on the trip. (Limited details on the excursion have been released due to security and media). Florida "float plan": Leaving Dayton Bch for 2 days at Saint Augustine (hotel), 1 night at Amelia Island & 2 days at Fernandina Beach.
RISE & SHINE: PARKER TRIES TO GET THE CREW IN READY SHAPE
The excursion from Titusville to Daytona Beach was bleak and rainy from a weather perspective but the waterway was filled with dolphins swimming alongside the boat...difficult to steer das boat! Doublewides and parts of Americana that exist along the intracoastal added to this somewhat odd trip.
The Haulover Canal is a nice and friendly wake-up call that connects the Indian River to the Mosquito Lagoon on our journey north...a perfect spot to drop anchor, meet & greet, have a little luncheon & share a little bubbly with our newly made friends! Everyone is so friendly in the state of Florida!
Zipping on up through the Mosquito Lagoon as pleasant as that may seem (our dolphins still swimming in pairs by the boat), we encounter very slow speeds due to manatees but discover tracts of trailer parks and related housing on the banks of the intracoastal up to Daytona.
